Visions Federal Credit Union (VFCU) created a scholarship for SUNY Oswego Syracuse Campus part-time non-traditional/adult learner students.

The scholarship, awarded each semester to two deserving students, provides financial support to empower, motivate and encourage them to continue on their path to earn their bachelor’s degrees.

Johnson Hall is hosting a clothing drive this week -- through Saturday, March 13 -- to benefit the SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) pantry on campus as well as a few off-campus organizations.

Organizers ask all members of the campus community to provide gently used clothing if they can. Drop-offs are welcome in the Johnson Hall lobby between 5 and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The application process is open for funding opportunities for arts events via the college's Artswego program, with a March 22 submission deadline.

Registration is open for the college's KidsTech programs, run by the technology education department. The free spring sessions of both programs, STEM 4 Kids and Young Inventors, will run for three consecutive Wednesday in April.

Writing Fellow Amanda Trainham will present "Outlining and Planning an Essay" at 3 p.m., Friday, March 12, as part of the college's Write Ways Series.

QPR Gatekeeper Training -- a suicide prevention training program that equips anyone with the framework to have difficult, but possibly life-saving conversations -- will provide a virtual training opportunity from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 14. This training is for undergraduate and graduate students only.

QPR stands for "Question, Persuade, Refer," three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide.

Andrea Vickery and Lisa Glidden will be the certified QPR Instructors for the March 14 session, which will be held via Zoom.

The inaugural SUNY Oswego State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Spring Flowering Bulb Sale is now open as a fundraiser supporting community causes.

In their continuing mission to add services and support groups to address a variety of needs in the campus community, the Counseling Services Center has added the following weekly group meetings to their schedule.

The Counseling Services Center invites students to get creative with Oswego's famous snow with an opportunity to win prizes in their "Best In Snow" competition.

In addition to her concert for campus at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, Native American and African-American vocalist, songwriter, composer and educator Martha Redbone will host a pair of free online workshops as part of her virtual residency in the Artswego Performing Arts Series.
