Syracuse Campus students earn Visions Federal Credit Union Scholarships

Visions Federal Credit Union (VFCU) created a scholarship for SUNY Oswego Syracuse Campus part-time non-traditional/adult learner students.

The scholarship, awarded each semester to two deserving students, provides financial support to empower, motivate and encourage them to continue on their path to earn their bachelor’s degrees.

Johnson Hall hosting clothing drive

Johnson Hall is hosting a clothing drive this week -- through Saturday, March 13 -- to benefit the SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) pantry on campus as well as a few off-campus organizations.

Organizers ask all members of the campus community to provide gently used clothing if they can. Drop-offs are welcome in the Johnson Hall lobby between 5 and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Applications available for Artswego funding

Spring KidsTech programs to offer free youth STEM lessons

Registration is open for the college's KidsTech programs, run by the technology education department. The free spring sessions of both programs, STEM 4 Kids and Young Inventors, will run for three consecutive Wednesday in April.

QPR training offered to students to support suicide prevention

QPR Gatekeeper Training -- a suicide prevention training program that equips anyone with the framework to have difficult, but possibly life-saving conversations -- will provide a virtual training opportunity from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 14. This training is for undergraduate and graduate students only.

QPR stands for "Question, Persuade, Refer," three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide.

Andrea Vickery and Lisa Glidden will be the certified QPR Instructors for the March 14 session, which will be held via Zoom.

Performer Martha Redbone to present workshops in Artswego virtual residency

In addition to her concert for campus at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2Native American and African-American vocalist, songwriter, composer and educator Martha Redbone will host a pair of free online workshops as part of her virtual residency in the Artswego Performing Arts Series.
