Her Campus to host end-of-semester holiday gathering

The student organization Her Campus will host its End of the Semester Holiday Bash at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.

The organization will take this time to celebrate participants' accomplishments and articles written over the past semester, as well as do a Secret Santa gift-gifting exchange. They also will do a Seniors Send-off to recognize those who have put in great effort into their organization and are graduating this semester.

Faculty member’s webinars to probe current Supreme Court case on Roe v. Wade

Political science professor Helen Knowles will give 7 p.m. lectures via Zoom on Tuesday, Nov. 30, and Thursday, Dec. 2, on the current abortion cases being decided by the Supreme Court.

Knowles said her intentions are to provide information and context, not to take sides, to increase awareness on details of the landmark case that could impact the Roe v. Wade 1973 decision that made the option of obtaining abortion legal in the United States.

The Oswego Alumni Association Alumni Awards honor and recognize alumni for outstanding professional achievements in their fields for service to the college and Oswego students, and for exemplary service in their local, national or global communities.

Volunteers sought for Dec. 11 Commencement ceremonies

For the first time this year, December Commencement will feature two ceremonies -- one honoring the Class of 2020 and another for December 2021 graduates -- and the college seeks volunteers to make these Dec. 11 events extra special.

The in-person ceremony for the Class of 2020 will convene at 9:30 a.m. (shifts start at 8 a.m.) on Dec. 11 in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall in Marano Campus Center. The December 2021 ceremony will follow at 12:30 p.m. (with shifts starting at 11 a.m.).

Teddy Bear Toss for Toys for Tots returns, starting this weekend

SUNY Oswego’s SEFA (State Employee Federated Appeal) campaign is partnering with Laker hockey teams and Toys for Tots for the 5th annual Teddy Bear Toss. 

Philanthropists and Laker hockey fans are welcome back to the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall this year for the Teddy Bear Toss hockey games. The women’s hockey game takes place this weekend -- at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, and the Oswego men's hockey game at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

Tuesday webinar to feature alumnus-faculty presentation on student partnership project

The campus community is invited to tune in on Tuesday for a free virtual conference presentation by Oswego graduate Paul Austin, a senior manager at IBM, and computer science faculty member Vanessa Maike on an academic partnership with SUNY Oswego undergraduates.

Commencement Eve reception Dec. 10 to welcome newest alumni

The Oswego Alumni Association cordially invites the campus community to the December Commencement Eve Reception at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. The event helps welcome December graduates to the Oswego Alumni Association and celebrates all their accomplishments.

Tickets are $27 for adults, $17 for December Graduates, $12 for children (3-11), while the youngest children (2 and under) are free. Prices include tax and gratuity.
