Reminder: We have another opportunity to recognize some of our finest at SUNY Oswego via the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service! 

Nominations are open for the 2021-2022 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service. Nominations close on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. Any member of the campus community may nominate an eligible state employee presently serving in a full-time classified service capacity.  

Learn about the Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year is celebrated in many Asian countries (in Vietnam, it’s Têt, and Losar in Tibet). The festivities begin with the new moon, which this year fell on Feb. 1, and culminates with the full moon on Feb. 15. Each Lunar New Year is matched with one of the 12 zodiac animals. This is the Year of the Tiger — the tiger being a symbol of power, independence, and creativity.

Winter Weather: Canceling classes or declaring a remote instruction day

Last winter (2020-21), amidst the height of the pandemic, SUNY Oswego modified its inclement weather practices to reflect our ability to successfully deliver instruction remotely (when and if necessary).

On Saturday, Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will perform maintenance on technology servers. During this time, some technology services will be intermittently unavailable for everyone on and off-campus. These services include but are not limited to:

SHOP opens today for spring semester

Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP) is open for the spring semester as of Jan. 31.

Located in room 3 in the basement of Penfield Library, SHOP offers a wide range of non-perishable food items, toiletries, clothing and more to those in need.

Hours for the semester are:

  • Mondays through Thursdays: 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Fridays: 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During those hours, SHOP will be open for students, faculty, and staff to utilize.

The Advisement Center is now hiring Advisement Guides for the 2022-23 academic year. Advisement Guides are peer advisors trained to help students get familiar with campus systems (Degree Works, myOswego), improve their time management skills and connect with campus resources.
