Writers Speak! Lecture: Education professor Barb Beyerbach discusses writing and mindfulness

The Writers Speak! Fall 2020 Lecture Series returns with School of Education professor Barbara Beyerbach discuss "Writing as a Mindfulness Practice" from 12:45 to 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21. 

The event is open to all members of the SUNY Oswego community. 

Beyerbach has been a faculty member in SUNY Oswego’s curriculum and instruction department since 1987, and before that was an elementary teacher who taught preschool, kindergarten, fifth grade and sixth grade.

SEFA to offer inaugural Thanksgiving Pie Sale

The SUNY Oswego SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) planning committee will be holding its inaugural Thanksgiving Pie Sale from now until November 5.  In our effort to support our local communities, who need our support now more than ever before, we are trying to find new and creative ways to fundraise this year.

Cathy Santos to serve as Latino Student Union keynote speaker

Alumna and longtime SUNY Oswego leader Cathy Santos will serve as Latino Student Union keynote speaker, with a virtual talk at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.

Earning her bachelor's and master's degrees (in 1987 and 1999, respectively) Santos is a retired Boruica higher education professional who currently directs library services as part of a committee for Oswego County.

SEFA hosting Lucky Laker Pet of the Month fundraiser

The college's SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) campaign will host a Lucky Laker Pet of the Month fundraiser, where the furry friends of the Laker family can compete for monthly prizes in October, November and December.

Election Day paid time off to vote guidelines

With Election Day right around the corner, the Office of Human Resources wants to remind everyone of the legislation passed in April 2020 amending the Election Law. Employees may take up to two hours of paid leave to vote in any election in New York State, when the employee does not have sufficient time to vote before or after their work shift.

Students and employees reminded to continue taking daily health screens

As each member of the campus community continues to play a key role in helping SUNY Oswego flatten the curve and slow the spread of COVID-19, we want to ensure that we are doing everything to remain healthy for the rest of the semester. As we pledged to do when we returned to campus this fall, students, faculty and staff are expected to take their respective health screen each and every day they plan to be on campus.
