Alumna to share her journey in IT at College Loops event

Alumna Katie Morelli will speak on campus Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (Room 132) at a College Loops kickoff event.

A user experience designer for AXA US in Syracuse, Morelli earned a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design in 2014 and a master’s in human computer interaction in 2016, both from SUNY Oswego. She will speak about her experiences and share her journey as a woman in the IT (information technology) industry.

Employees' Flex Spending 2020 open enrollment now open

The open enrollment period for 2020 Flex Spending Account opened today (Oct. 7) and run to Nov. 8. The Flex Spending Account (FSA) includes the Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAAccount) and the HealthCare Spending Account (HCSAccount).

Write Ways series to explore 'Comma Usage'

Organizers of the Write Ways series will hold a workshop Friday, Oct. 4, asking attendees to learn how to love and properly utilitze their commas.

Steven Smith will present a free session on "Comma Usage" in Penfield Library Classroom 2 (first floor) starting at 3 p.m.

Workshops are open to all students, staff and faculty.


Get familiar with identity theft as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The Department of Homeland Security defines NCSAM as a “collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.” To this end, Campus Technology Services uses this opportunity to educate the college campus on staying safe online.

Pumpkin Run Oct. 11 to support local schoolchildren

The SUNY Oswego Fitness Centers will host the 13th annual Great Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11.

The entry fee is $5 and all proceeds benefit the Oswego chapter of Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization that provides food to area schoolchildren in need.

Participants can register at the front desk of either fitness center by Thursday, Oct. 10, or register the day of the event beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food court.

Children's group swim lessons to begin Oct. 19

SUNY Oswego’s Campus Recreation will provide American Red Cross children’s swim lessons on six consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 19 to Nov. 23, in the Lee Hall pool on campus.

Taught by certified instructors, the American Red Cross children’s swim lessons will include sessions for students in first through sixth grades, and parent and child classes for 4- and 5-year-olds.

Free flu clinics for students

Health Services will holding their yearly free flu clinics starting Friday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in 213F Hewitt. Immunizations are only available to students age 18 and above. Anybody with questions or needing accommodation can contact Health Services at 315-312-4100.

Other dates at 213F Hewitt will include 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 9.
