Regular walk-in hours allow students to explore internships

The EXCEL (Experiential Courses and Engaged Learning) Office will offer regular walk-in hours to allow students to learn how to gain experience on and off campus -- including paid opportunities.

Students can ask questions and get help from internship coordinators during the hours below in the front room of The Compass, 145 Marano Campus Center.

Latino Student Union's 47th annual dinner happening Saturday

The Latino Student Union invites the campus community to their 47th annual dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the event beginning at 7 p.m.

This year's dinner showcases Latino culture and contributions in New York City, with a theme of “Welcome To Spanish Harlem.”

President Nwosu to hold drop-in meetings today for students

SUNY Oswego President Peter O. Nwosu will host student drop-in hours today, Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center Food Court.  

All students are encouraged to drop in, say hello to President Nwosu, ask a question or discuss a topic of importance to them.

University to test emergency communications on Nov. 14

SUNY Oswego will conduct a test of its emergency communication systems on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 at approximately 9:40 a.m. The timing of the alert is intended to fully test the university’s emergency notification systems during an active time of day and at the beginning of the 9:35 a.m. slate of classes in session.

ASAP session to explore ways to boost productivity in studying

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP), designed to help adult learners connect with SUNY Oswego and other students, will virtually present "Boost Productivity with Body Doubling and Virtual Study Halls" at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Hunger and Homelessness Week food drive under way

November 4, 2024

From Nov. 4 through Nov. 18, in recognition of Hunger and Homelessness Week (Nov. 17 to 23), the (Students Helping Oz Peers) SHOP pantry and Empire State Service Corps Members are hosting a food drive to collect items for SHOP's Thanksgiving basket distribution.

Donation drop-off sites include the Culkin Hall lobby, the Penfield Library lobby, the CSTEP Office in 398 Shineman Center, the Compass in 145 Marano Campus Center and the Point in 131 Marano Campus Center.

Student social to commemorate National First-Generation College Celebration

SUNY Oswego's FirstLEAP Committee invites the campus community to a First-Generation College Student Social from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, in 215 Penfield Library and Speakers' Corner. All are welcome to come for a few minutes or stay for an hour (or two) to enjoy games and the company of fellow first-gens (and allies).

SEFA, UP team up for Blessings in a Backpack fundraiser

This November, the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign will partner with University Police Lt. Kevin Ermann to raise money for the Blessings in a Backpack Oswego Chapter.

Blessings in a Backpack is a national organization that helps feed hungry students on weekends and holidays throughout the school year.

The number of children relying on this service locally has grown from 50 in 2013 to around 250 in 2016, and has since doubled as the cost of food has also risen significantly, organizers said.
