Oswego’s online MBA ranked 28th nationally by business-school site

SUNY Oswego’s online master of business administration program added another national plaudit recently, ranked 28th -- the highest of any public college in New York state -- by business-school site Poets and Quants.

Oswego was the only SUNY school on the list, and one of four in the Empire State in the 35-place ranking that compiled admissions standards, the MBA experience and career outcomes.

Ensemble video storage scheduled outage on Oct. 24

Ensemble, used for distributing and embedding videos into other applications, will be unavailable on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from midnight through 7 a.m.

The system will be upgraded to version 5.0 which will include new features such as video quizzes as well as fixes. During this time, viewing of any videos hosted through Ensemble will be unavailable including any Ensemble videos embedded into courses within Blackboard. Students and faculty will want to plan accordingly.

SCMA sponsors trip to Syracuse Stage for play reflecting local history

The School of Communications, Media and the Arts will sponsor a bus and 55 tickets for students to see the new play "Possessing Harriet," which connects with local history, at Syracuse Stage on Sunday, Nov. 4.

This bus will leave Marano Campus Center at noon and return to campus after the show (by 6 p.m.). There is no cost for participating students.

Journalist who lived, worked undercover in North Korea to speak

SUNY Oswego's annual Hart Hall Global Awareness Conference will present Suki Kim, said to be the only writer to have lived undercover in North Korea for immersive journalism, as keynote speaker at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

EAP and Kinney Drugs to offer free flu shot clinic for employees and students

New York State's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the local Kinney Drugs are teaming up to offer free flu shots to SUNY Oswego employees who have Empire Plan health insurance coverage.  Make plans to get your flu shot on Monday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Marano Campus Center overlook (concourse level overlooking the food and activity court).

Students are also welcome but must present a valid health insurance card, as this particular flu shot clinic is not associated with the Mary Walker Health Center.  

SUNY's Zimpher Scholarship honors 'constant drive' of Oswego teacher candidate

SUNY Oswego teacher candidate Ashley Kirkland wanted to attend the recent presentation in Albany for the prestigious Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher Scholarship, but she was keeping her commitment to help other Brooklyn girls -- homeless, in temporary housing -- who are trying against all odds to succeed in school, just as Kirkland had.

Memorial services for Brian Hough, SUNY Oswego assistant professor in the department of atmospheric and geological sciences, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia, New York 13118. Writing Fellows Workshop Series for faculty begins today

The Writing Fellows Workshop Series begins today, providing the first of four sessions supporting faculty who use writing in the courses they teach -- with a goal of building the wider culture of writing on campus.

The college's Office of Communications and Marketing recently completed a reorganization of its key function areas, aimed at expanding beyond a traditional public affairs model, and moving towards an integrated marketing, modernized communications approach. Over the past year, the office has purposely acted on a vision to create a culture of centralized service by formalizing four core function areas that include Digital Services, Marketing, News/Media and Publications.
