The letter below was emailed from Interim Chancellor Deborah F. Stanley to members of the SUNY community on June 24, 2022.

Dear SUNY community,

Today’s (Friday's) significant and far-reaching decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and with it 50 years of settled law, has already sparked a wide range of reactions and emotions across our nation, our state, and the SUNY system. I recognize that for many, today’s (Friday's) ruling may cause a great deal of pain and confusion.

Retirement Reception on Thursday for Barbara St. Michel

Campus Life will host a retirement reception for Barbara St. Michel from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 in the Chu Atrium in Marano Campus Center.

St. Michel, associate director of Campus Life, earned a Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2020 for her dedication and variety of skills benefiting the campus.

Pride Month activities span state, include campus connections

SUNY Oswego would like to acknowledge the celebration and significance of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, observed from June 1 until June 30, as well as activities around the state supporting it.

Blackboard to Brightspace course migration assistance and tips

June 20, 2022

As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the Fall 2022 semester. All courses taught with or supplemented by Blackboard will need to migrate. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the Summer 2022 semester. 

On-campus wireless network maintenance scheduled for June 23

June 20, 2022

On Thursday, June 23, from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will perform wireless network maintenance. During this timeframe:

  • All on-campus wireless connections to the campus network and Internet will be unavailable. 
  • All on-campus wired connections to the campus network and Internet will continue to be available.

Celebrating and observing Juneteenth

As the month of June progresses, SUNY Oswego proudly acknowledges the celebration of Juneteenth -- a national holiday to be observed on June 20, 2022.  Juneteenth recognizes June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in the Confederacy were notified of their freedom following the Civil War.

Campus network outage scheduled for Friday evening

Update on Blackboard to Brightspace course migrations

As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the fall 2022 semester. All courses taught with or supplemented by Blackboard will need to migrate. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the summer 2022 semester. 

College to observe Daylight Hour on June 22

June 13, 2022

SUNY Oswego will join many other SUNY campuses and hundreds of organizations around the world on Wednesday, June 22, in an annual campaign to raise awareness of the value of simple daylight to save energy and improve health. 

Members of the college community are asked to switch off lights in day-lit offices, even if in home offices, for one hour at noon on June 22.

Important fiscal year-end financial information provided

As we approach the end of the fiscal year, I would like to remind you of some important information and transactional deadlines that are approaching:

  • All requisitions/purchase orders must be received in the Purchasing Office by close of business on Monday, June 20, 2022 for any/all activity related to 2021-22. This relates to any new orders for goods/services using 2021-22 funding.  Please note, all goods/services for these orders must be received by Aug. 15, 2022.
