Call for nominations: Hubert B. Smith Diversity Scholarship

The Hubert B. Smith Diversity Scholarship will be awarded to four students for the next academic year, 2021 - 2022, with each recipient receiving $1,200.

This award honors Hubert B. Smith, retired assistant provost and director of the Office of Learning Support (now the Office of Learning Services), for his many years of service in the promotion of human diversity and academic excellence at SUNY Oswego.

QPR faculty/staff training offered support suicide prevention

QPR Gatekeeper Training -- a suicide prevention training program that equips anyone with the framework to have difficult, but possibly life-saving conversations -- will provide two virtual training opportunities for staff and faculty only.

QPR stands for "Question, Persuade, Refer," three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide.

These sessions will be held via Zoom.

Those interested can pick one of the following QPR Gatekeeper Training dates:

Mobile food pantry comes to Oswego on April 29

Food Bank of Central New York will make a visit near campus at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, in the parking lot of Oswego Alliance Church, 371 Thompson Rd. (between the main campus and Rice Creek Field Station).

Anyone in need of food assistance is encouraged to attend and receive a free box of food. Boxes will be limited to one per household and will be distributed while supplies last. There are no income requirements for families and individuals using this service.

Oswego County hosting Moderna vaccination clinic in Laker Hall on Monday

The Oswego County Health Department and SUNY Oswego have joined forces to offer another COVID-19 vaccination clinic on the SUNY Oswego campus (Laker Hall) this Monday, April 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. This first-shot Moderna vaccination clinic is open to all eligible residents of the greater Oswego community (18 years or older) including SUNY Oswego employees and students.

The Office of Human Resources does not have access to view or change your beneficiaries, so you will need to do that on your own.  Choosing a beneficiary for your retirement system is very important.
