Multi-factor Authentication expands to more campus services

Campus Technology Services (CTS) worked with the campus community this spring semester to add multi-factor authentication (MFA) to certain campus services including Blackboard, Zoom, Office 365, Adobe, Library databases, Administrative Banner and Spectrum U. MFA requires the use of your normal password along with a code sent to an app or phone.

MFA will expand to include more campus services based on the following schedule.

Update on Blackboard to Brightspace course migrations and trainings

The Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Transition team continues to make progress on the Blackboard to Brightspace transition. As a reminder, the campus is migrating from Blackboard to Brightspace for the Fall 2022 semester. To begin the transition, some pilot courses are being taught in Brightspace over the Summer 2022 semester.  

Campus Recreation sets summer hours

Campus Recreation's summer hours are in effect, running through Friday, Aug. 12. Cooper Fitness Center and Lee Hall gym will be open for activities for students and faculty/staff.

Cooper Fitness Center

  • Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SEFA Father’s Day raffle to support Ukrainian relief charity

The SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) Planning Committee announced their latest fundraiser, a Father's Day themed raffle to raise money for the people of war-torn Ukraine. SUNY Oswego’s SEFA felt compelled to help this cause, seeing many Ukrainian fathers making the brave and ultimate sacrifice to leave their families and go off to war to protect their country. 

Sheldon Institute seeks applications for teachers, course proposals

The popular summer youth enrichment program Sheldon Institute invites applications and course proposals for the 2022 program on the SUNY Oswego campus.

For summer 2022, organizers are re-imagining this program in the wake of COVID-19, and invite instructors to teach for one and/or two of the weeks of the program -- Monday through Friday: July 25 to 29 (AND/OR) Aug. 1 to 5.

Scheduled downtime to upgrade library services

May 9, 2022

On Monday and Tuesday, May 16 and 17, SUNY Oswego will upgrade several computer systems for Penfield Library. The upgrade is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days.

Blackboard course archive/export files to be deleted this month

As part of the Blackboard to Brightspace transition, Blackboard hosting provider SUNY ITEC is working with campuses to ensure a smooth transition. This includes anticipating storage needed for faculty to archive/export their courses out of Blackboard. 

To ensure ample storage, SUNY ITEC will purge Blackboard course archive/export files stored within courses on the following schedule.  

Summer housing available for those taking classes

May 4, 2022

Students enrolled in summer sessions have the option to live on campus while they are enrolled in classes. If you would like to live on-campus as you complete your classes this summer, visit myhousing.oswego.edu to complete your summer housing application. Summer session pilot courses getting ready to launch in Brightspace; update on transition

The SUNY Oswego Digital Learning Environment (DLE) transition team, composed of staff from Extended Learning and Campus Technology Services (CTS), continues to make progress migrating the campus from Blackboard to Brightspace. As a reminder, the selection of Brightspace was finalized by SUNY and campus partners in fall 2021 with a system-wide implementation mandate.
