Leave Green program accepting student items

If you're moving out and can't take everything with you, or have some items you were thinking about donating, the college's Leave Green project will accept them to reduce waste and support a good cause. 

Students can donate all unwanted clothing, bedding, small appliances, electronics, shoes, school supplies and other gently used items by leaving donations in the lobby of their residence hall in boxes labeled "Leave Green." 

Most years, the collects around seven tons of unwanted items through this program.

COVID-19 forced many aspects of our day-to-day lives online; virtual learning, working from home, online shopping, telemedicine and simply staying connected with those we care about. It has also shown us how prevalent the digital divide is in our communities.

Summer office hours to begin May 17

Summer hours for office employees will go into effect on Monday, May 17, 2021. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break.

These summer hours will remain in effect through Friday, Aug. 13, 2021. Regular office hours will resume as of Monday, Aug.16, 2021.

Discover Wellness employee worksite wellness program returns this summer

"Discover Wellness: Find A Healthier You" will be offering its virtual seven-week program this summer. It runs once a week starting Monday, May 17, and is free to all SUNY Oswego employees.


This program focuses on stress reduction, healthy eating, increasing physical activity and improving overall quality of sleep. Participants will receive free weekly wellness reinforcements and strategies that will assist them in making a behavior change that will aid in increasing their overall quality of life.

Experimental 'Mist' to blend storytelling, music, cinema

Generous support from Artswego, the work of accomplished Appalachian singer'songwriter Water Light, and storyteller Steven J. York will converge for living cinema livestream titled "Thick and Peculiar Mist" at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6.

"We present this unique virtual experience highlighting the creation of experimental songs and sounds for the Living-Cinema piece," said York, a member of the college's theatre faculty, describing its origins as: "How does one go about writing a song, to accompany a show, that was inspired by the storytelling of a dream?"

SUNY adopts CDC guidance to ease outdoor mask requirements for vaccinated individuals

State University of New York Chancellor Jim Malatras announced on Friday, April 30, 2021, that SUNY campuses will adopt the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance to ease outdoor mask requirements for vaccinated individuals.
