‘Elsewhere’ auditions set Friday and Saturday

Auditions for “Elsewhere” -- the first in-person full theatre production expected to take place in Waterman Theatre in nearly two years -- will run from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. 

Online signups are available to schedule an audition slot. Callbacks will take place starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Blackboard upgrade scheduled Aug. 19

The SUNY Oswego Blackboard instance will receive an upgrade on Thursday, Aug. 19 from 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m.  During this time, Blackboard will be unavailable.

The upgrade is necessary to move to the newest Blackboard version, which includes a new content editor, updated inline assignment grading, and changes that allow for better integration with third-party publisher tools. 

Pre-retirement planning program dates set

The Governor’s Office of Employee Relations (GOER) Work Life Services (WLS) will again offer virtual fall/winter 2021 New York State pre-retirement sessions from September to December 2021. Using the WebEx platform, these live sessions are conducted bi-weekly over two days using the agenda below on these available dates.

Compass Credit Union re-opening campus office next week

Compass Federal Credit Union’s campus branch, located inside Marano Campus Center in Room 150B, will reopen on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

After closing in March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Compass is pleased to reopen its campus office every Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The campus office will return with its full listing of previous services, including an all-new ATM on site.

SEFA hosting fall mums sale fundraiser

The State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Fall Garden Mum Sale is now open, kicking off this year's on-campus fundraising campaign that supports area charities. 

Members of the campus community can purchase big, beautiful 8-inch potted mums from Oliver Paine Greenhouses in colors that include yellow, white, lavender (purple), red (maroon) and bronze (orange).  All proceeds from this popular event support SEFA's 2020-21 campaign.

Return to regular office hours to begin Monday, Aug. 16

Effective Monday, Aug. 16, hours for office employees will return to regular hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

SEFA collecting items to support schoolkids via Stuff A Bus

The college's State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign announced sponsorship of the annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign, which provides school supplies to children in need in Oswego County's nine school districts. Collection boxes around campus (see below) will receive drop offs. The collection has begun and will run from through Friday, Aug. 20.

Upcoming changes to Google Drive file links, Backup and Sync

Google has announced two changes that will impact the web addresses used to share some Drive files, and its Backup and Sync service.

Security update for some Google Drive links, to be completed by Sept. 13

Google is applying a security update to some Google Drive file links to make sharing links more secure.  The web address used to share a document will change to include a resource key. Note that Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms files are not impacted by this change.

Parking Office adjusting hours; permits available in advance of fall

The Parking Office, located on Route 104 just east of the college entrance, recently adjusted its hours. The office is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a lunchtime closing from noon to 12:30 p.m.

Parking passes are still available via the Parking Portal website, which you can pick up during the above hours or request to have it mailed. If you choose to have it mailed, please be sure the address is correct and allow 7 to 10 business days for mailing.

People Search change to enhance information security

To better protect students, faculty, and staff and improve the information security of the campus community, People Search will only be available to users with a valid LakerNet ID. Currently, People Search is publicly available and is therefore susceptible to common tactics used by bad actors/hackers like screen scraping where a program/bot collects all contact information listed.
