Quest schedule set, resources for presenters available

This year's Quest, a day for celebrating the scholarly and creative activities of the campus community, is coming together for Wednesday, April 14.

The Quest schedule is available now on Attendify.  Download the Attendify app and search for Quest 2021 to access the schedule, speaker profiles and the Zoom links needed to join the sessions virtually.

SEFA sale of flowering baskets to support community causes

The inaugural SUNY Oswego State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Mother’s Day Flowering Hanging Basket Sale is now open as a fundraiser supporting community causes.

Campus community members can welcome spring by purchasing 10-inch potted baskets provided by Ontario Orchards. Options include million bells solid color, million bells mixed colors or red geraniums.

The baskets cost $25 for one, or two for $45. 

Proceeds will support Paws Across Oswego County and the on-campus Oswego Children’s Center.

Student Association special presidential election set for April 8 and 9

The Student Association has called for a special election Thursday and Friday, April 8 and 9, with voting via Laker Life for the 2021-22 SA president.

Candidates for the special election for SA president are Takayla Beckon and Alanna Hill.

Only 79 students voted for their chief student representative in the initial election. SA called that turnout unacceptable given the importance of the position.

Get Yourself Tested virtual event under way

Get Yourself Tested (GYT), an empowering campaign to encourage people to get tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), is currently under way, with testing available Apri 5 to 9 and April 12 to 16.

The Virtual GYT event will provide students convenient screening tests for some of the most common STIs without an appointment with a medical provider.

Latino Student Union seeks nominations for e-board

The Latino Student Union is looking for nominations for next year's elective board. There are several positions and if you know anybody or would like to nominate yourself, feel free to fill out this quick Google form.

New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory updated

The New York State Department of Health has updated the travel guidelines effective April 1, 2021.

Domestic travelers coming from within the continental United States will no longer be required to quarantine after entering New York. Mandatory quarantine remains in effect for international travelers.

Sounds of Summer playlist seeks road-trip tunes

For its weekly themed Sounds of Summer Playlist, Extended Learning wants to know about songs that fuel you during road trips.

SUNY Oswego is one of the few colleges in New York that offers flexible online training and practical learning that allows you to finish your certification for driver education in less than 12 months. The college's Summer Sessions courses for this certification fill up fast. 

Muslim Student Association seeks feedback from those observing Ramadan

Ramadan 2021 is coming up and as Muslims, it is not truly easy to go through it by yourself especially when it overlaps with finals weeks. Therefore the Muslim Student Association, with the collaboration of other campus ressources such as Auxiliary Services and the Counseling Services Center, would like to know of any students who are on campus and will be observing Ramadan so that we can accommodate you to the best of our abilities.

Curriculum Innovation Grants awarded for spring cycle

The Spring 2021 round of the Curriculum Innovation Grant funded five proposals for a total of more than $12,000 among them. 

These proposals were recommended for funding by members of the Curriculum Innovation Grant Committee, which consists of members of the Committee on Learning and Teaching, and ultimately approved for funding by Provost Scott Furlong.

SEFA campaign supports Yards for Yeardley, local families

The college’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) program is supporting the college’s annual Yards for Yeardley event, the local Services to Aid Families (SAF) via a collection effort and a T-shirt fundraiser.
