October is LGBTQIA+ History Month and SUNY Oswego is having and collaborating on a series of events to celebrate and highlight LGBTQIA+ identities and visibility for the campus community. The events are as follows:

Counseling Services Center closed morning of Oct. 3

October 2, 2024

Counseling Services Center will be closed on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

If you have a mental health crisis, please call 315-312-4416. Walk-in hours will start at 12:30 p.m.

Auxiliary Services Board of Directors invites applications for program grants

The Auxiliary Services Board of Directors is excited to invite applications for program grants supporting SUNY Oswego’s strategic plan and its initiatives. These grants are designed to fund programs that contribute to creating a vibrant and engaging campus community.

UP's Coffee with a Cop happening this morning

October 1, 2024

The national Coffee with a Cop day is Wednesday, Oct. 2, and SUNY Oswego's University Police will participate with a table in Marano Campus Center from 10 a.m. to noon.

Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together, over coffee, to discuss issues and learn more about each other. University Police will provide free coffee and donuts and plenty of opportunities to ask questions to members of the police department.

Programs scheduled for mandatory student organization Title IX training

All student organizations must send four people per year to Title IX training, and two more events are scheduled for this semester: at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, and 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Both events will take place in the Marano Campus Center auditorium, room 132.

Penfield Library to host Research Party Oct. 2

Penfield Library invites the campus to a Research Party on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Penfield Library Classroom 215.

Librarians will be on hand to assist students with citations, scholarly sources, conducting research and more.

Free pizza and snacks will be served. Attendees are invited to bring their own beverages.

Next ASAP session to present Career Services, EXCEL support

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP), designed to help adult learners connect with SUNY Oswego and other students, will present “Future-ready with Career Services’ and EXCEL’s Internship Insights at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Advisement Center student registration workshops scheduled

September 26, 2024

The Advisement Center will be hosting Registration workshops on weekdays from Oct. 7 to Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a new workshop starting each hour. All first-year students are required to attend a workshop.

Workshops are hosted by Advisement Guides, trained student leaders who intern with the Advisement Center. Advisement Guides will show attendees how to look up and review their registration status, how to review DegreeWorks and how to navigate the Registration and Planning system to view available courses and set up a registration plan.

Tips, upcoming event mark Fire Safety Month

Fire Safety Month begins tomorrow and campus officials offer tips and a special Oct. 1 event in the Hewitt Quad for hands-on learning.

SUNY Oswego’s Fire Department invites the entire campus community to participate in fire safety events on Tuesday,  in Hewitt Quad from 12:25 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature a variety of engaging activities and essential safety tips.

The rain date for the event is Oct. 2.

Laker student-athletes to rake leaves for senior citizens on Nov. 3

More than SUNY Oswego student-athletes are ready to rake leaves in the city of Oswego on Sunday, Nov. 3 -- and they want to hear from senior citizens interested in their assistance.

In its 19th year at SUNY Oswego, the project is part of an annual statewide community service project by Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) chapters at many SUNY Athletic Conference colleges. SAAC's mission is to generate a student-athlete voice among Oswego's intercollegiate teams and to enhance school spirit within athletics.
