Van driver trainings scheduled for December

SUNY Oswego will host two opportunities for van driver training on successive Saturdays -- 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 2 and 9. 

University policy requires that in order to operate the college-owned 12-passenger vans, students must be 18 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and complete at least one driver training session.

SUNY Oswego joins annual shoe drive supporting local communities

SUNY Oswego has joined an annual local effort, titled “Tithe My Shoes,” to collect new or gently used shoes and boots for the Rescue Mission with an emphasis on children’s shoes.

SUNY Oswego President Peter O. Nwosu, Ph.D., is proud to participate in the collection effort this year. In his office are a pair of shoes he wore when he first came to America as an immigrant student, and he speaks of them often. 

'PR Beyond the Classroom: Insights from the Field' panel set tonight

The SUNY Oswego chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will host a panel discussion on "PR Beyond the Classroom: Insights from the Field" at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).

The session will feature alumni and faculty presenters include Lindsay McCluskey, Stephanie Hebert, Leah Wood and Paige Castle. They will discuss their experiences in the public relations/communication field, post-graduate life and career readiness skills.

Students invited to virtual focus group hosted by Micron Community Engagement Committee

As part of the agreement to bring Micron to Central New York; Micron, New York State, and other partners have committed to investing $500 million into the Central New York community over the next 20 years. 

The Micron Community Engagement Committee (CEC) wants to hear from the region’s college and university students to understand how to make Central New York an even better place to live, work and thrive because the CEC values the talent, perspective and input of the region’s students. 

Candidate for director of Triandiflou Institute on campus this Friday

Members of the campus community are invited for a pair of opportunities on Friday, Dec. 1, to meet with the candidate for the director of the James A. Triandiflou '88 Institute for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformative Practice.

A presentation, followed by a Q&A, will take place from 2 to 2:45 p.m. in 114 Marano Campus Center. In addition, a Zoom link is available.

Signups encouraged for Nov. 29 flu/COVID vaccination clinic

Wegmans Pharmacy will come to campus on Wednesday, Nov. 29, to host a flu and COVID vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Swetman Gym. You can sign up for your spot via this link. Choose 13126 for the zip code to have the campus clinic come up. Walk-ins are welcome.

No Shave November tabling at men’s hockey game

The campus No Shave November fundraiser, a partnership between University Police and the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign, will host a table at the Laker men’s hockey game vs. Geneseo at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.

Retirement Celebration for Judy Roik happening today
