Upcoming hockey games to feature Teddy Bear Toss supporting Toys for Tots

SUNY Oswego’s SEFA (State Employee Federated Appeal) campaign again will partner with Laker hockey teams and Toys for Tots for the sixth annual Teddy Bear Toss.

Laker hockey fans are welcome to the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall this year for two Teddy Bear Toss games. The women’s hockey game takes place this weekend -- at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 -- with the Oswego men's hockey game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8. 

Social Security and retirement planning workshop scheduled

Winter Weather: Canceling classes or declaring a remote instruction day

One of the most popular fundraisers of the university’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign, the 2023 edition of Baskets of Caring is now live online via this link and will return in person on Nov. 14 and 15.

‘La Traviata’ opera, featuring State Singers among performers, playing Nov. 11-12

Oswego Opera Theater will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” on Nov. 11 and 12 at SUNY Oswego’s Waterman Theatre. The performance will feature professional singers, members of the Oswego community and SUNY Oswego students in a full-length, Italian-language production.

This year’s production will follow Oswego Opera Theater’s previous performances of “La Traviata” in November 2006 and March 1985.

Changes to EV charging stations

Earlier this semester, changes took place in the university’s electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, located next to the Richard S. Shineman Center.

For these stations, ChargePoint now will charge 25 cents per kilowatt per hour for the first four hours, and after that $5 per hour for use of these ports. Six ports of level 2 chargers currently exist in this location.

Observing Native American Heritage Month

The contributions of the Indigenous people in the United States have been tremendous and it is most reasonable to honor them. In addition to recognizing and paying tribute to their invaluable inputs, Native American Heritage Month presents a strategic moment to impart knowledge to the broader public regarding Indigenous tribes, fostering a heightened collective consciousness of the distinct adversities Native communities have confronted, spanning from historical to contemporary issues; and spotlighting the remarkable resilience of tribal citizens in overcoming these hurdles.

‘Experience Rice Creek’ to showcase recent research on Saturday

Rice Creek Associates (RCA), the support group for Rice Creek Field Station, invites the SUNY Oswego community and members of the public to attend “Experience Rice Creek: Current Discoveries, Research and Projects” from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

This annual event highlights the scholarly research and creative accomplishments of RCA's 2023 small grants awardees.
