Bargains available through OzThrift Sale next week

The Office of Sustainability starts the fall semester with the bi-annual Oz Thrift Sale, filled with new-to-you bargains and treasures Aug. 19 to 25.

Hours for the sale, taking place in Littlepage Dining Hall, are noon to 4 p.m. every day.

Note that Sunday, Aug. 25, is bag sale day, where visitors can bring in a bag and fill it for $5.

While the sale in large part supports the needs of incoming and current students, during the weekend -- Aug. 24 and 25 -- members of the greater Oswego community are welcome to shop the sale.

Student club and organization re-registration now open

Student organizations must complete and submit their re-registration in Laker Life by the beginning of the fall semester to remain active. Clubs who wish to remain active would need to re-register by noon on Friday, Sept. 6.

Waste can centralization happening across campus

Facilities Services is in the process of rolling out centralized waste stations across campus this summer.  

The aims of the initiative are to increase waste diversion rates, responsibly manage resources and to support SUNY's phase out of single-use plastics. Pilot efforts in Penfield Library, Rich Hall and Marano Campus Center have been successful.   

Tectonic Theater Project to lead training session for students

The SUNY Oswego Theatre Department is hosting auditions on Thursday Aug. 29, starting at 6 p.m. in Tyler Hall, for students interestsed in taking part in this fall's theatre productions.

Oneida Hall network maintenance scheduled

From Monday, Aug. 5, to Friday, Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will perform network maintenance. Oneida Hall's wired and wireless connections to the campus network and internet will be unavailable during this timeframe. Devices such as copiers and printers might require a power cycle if they don't come back online after work is completed.

President Nwosu’s tenure begins with strong philanthropic support

The 2023-24 fiscal year began with the announcement of a new president, Dr. Peter O. Nwosu, and his Vision 4040 plan to make a SUNY Oswego education available to more students, especially in the Central New York region. The Laker community rallied behind their new leader by donating their time, talents and financial resources for the advancement of the university.

Cardiac check event scheduled on campus Aug. 13 and 14

SUNY Oswego University Police have paired with Northeast Medical Diagnostics to bring a cardiac check event to the campus for all state employees and their spouses/families from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and Wednesday, Aug. 14, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. Employees have opportunity to tour Oswego Lighthouse on Aug. 1

SUNY Oswego employees are offered an opportunity to tour the historic Lighthouse in the Oswego Harbor on Thursday, Aug. 1.

The tour will begin at 2 p.m., and under this special opportunity, SUNY Oswego employees can take a tour of the Oswego Lighthouse for only $20 by registering via the campus box office (regular price is $35). Your time out of the office should be discussed with your supervisor in advance. Employees wishing to attend are responsible for purchasing their tickets.

Penfield Library, WRVO network maintenance scheduled July 26

On Friday, July 26, from 5 to 6 p.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will perform network maintenance. Penfield Library and WRVO's wired and wireless connections to the campus network and Internet will be unavailable. During this time, the network will be unavailable for about 15 minutes in Penfield as equipment reboots. Devices such as copiers and printers may require a power cycle if they don't come back online after work is completed.
