History professor hosts podcast discussion for History of Medicine Week

Gwen Kay, professor of history and director of Oswego's Honors Program, recently played a key role in History of Medicine Week events by the  American Association for the History of Medicine (AAHM) from Oct. 6 to 10.

A member of AAHM's Education and Outreach Committee, Kay served as the host/convenor of a discussion on “Federal Regulations: Progressive Era and Beyond” for the "Perspectives on Science” podcast.

Time is running out: Have you upgraded your computer to Windows 11?

Campus Technology Services (CTS) continues to work on a campus-wide transition to Windows 11. This transition is necessary as part of an ongoing commitment to provide a secure and efficient technology environment. 

CTS has been working on migrating employee, classroom, and computer lab computers to Windows 11 since summer 2024. As Microsoft’s Oct. 14, 2025 end-of-support deadline is right around the corner, CTS would like to remind employees to upgrade their computers. 

Health Alert: Measles detected in Oswego wastewater

The New York State Department of Health announced today that low levels of the measles virus were detected in a wastewater sample from the City of Oswego. This sample was collected from a treatment facility that serves parts of the city, SUNY Oswego, and nearby areas. Currently, no cases of measles have been reported.

LinkedIn 101 Workshop offered Thursday for faculty and staff

The Triandiflou Institute invites faculty and staff to attend a continuing workshop from its Scholar Practitioner series, "LinkedIn 101 Workshop for Staff and Faculty" on Thursday, Oct. 2, in 114 Marano Campus Center.

LinkedIn is a powerful tool for building connections, but it can be utilized for much more. As professionals teach and share with students the importance of using it, everybody can also find value in using this tool. This workshop allows attendees to pour into themselves by taking advantage of this opportunity to engage and learn more about LinkedIn.

'Knot Ready?' tie-tying workshop -- and free ties -- set for Oct. 1

A specialized career readiness event, "Knot Ready? -- dedicated to mastering the professional necktie -- will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, in the Compass Resource Center in 145A Marano Campus Center. Free ties will be available for participants.
Attendees will receive focused, step-by-step instructions on how to properly tie a tie.
