‘Experience Rice Creek’ to showcase recent research on Saturday

Rice Creek Associates (RCA), the support group for Rice Creek Field Station, invites the SUNY Oswego community and members of the public to attend “Experience Rice Creek: Current Discoveries, Research and Projects” from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

This annual event highlights the scholarly research and creative accomplishments of RCA's 2023 small grants awardees.

Alum to speak to Investment Club tonight

Mark Liguori, a SUNY Oswego alum who is currently a financial advisor at Raymond James Financial Services, will be the special guest for the SUNY Oswego Investment Club meeting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Liguori will be a virtual guest, talking about his job and experiences to anybody interested. The Investment Club meeting will take place in 175 Shineman.

Student Association to host 'A Call for Peace in the Middle East'

Tonight SUNY Oswego's Student Association (SA) will host "A Call for Peace in the Middle East," a peaceful walk around campus in the pursuit of peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, transcending political affiliations.

The campus community is invited to join SA in committing to universal values of peace, tolerance and coexistence, striving for a brighter future.

SA asks the campus to stand together for a peaceful resolution, regardless of personal opinions or background.

SHOP teaming with Department of Communication Studies for Winter Clothing Drive

Winter is coming, and Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP) is collaborating with the Department of Communication Studies for a Winter Clothing Drive this November. The drive runs from Nov. 6 to 10.

All members of the campus community are invited to donate any winter clothing to help protect others in need from the cold, wind and snow of Oswego’s winters. In addition, the pantry is always in need of non-perishable food items.

Oswego Dining hosting customer satisfaction survey

Oswego Dining Services would like to know how they are doing, so they are offering the campus a chance to share opinions to help them improve their services.

Oswego Dining is once again participating in the online Customer Satisfaction Survey conducted by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS).

Dean of Students Office to join events during Graduate Studies Week

The Office of the Dean of Students will take part in a pair of interactive activities this week for Graduate Studies Week.

Representatives will take part in the Ice Cream Social from noon to 2 p.m. on the Marano Campus Center Concourse to have conversations with the students as part of the student outreach and support program. Students are invited to bring their questions or anything they would like to share.

Workshop today to offer introduction to generative AI for students

"An Introduction to Generative AI: A Workshop for Students" will take place today at 6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 7) in 215 Penfield Library or via this Zoom link.

AI (artificial intelligence) has received a lot of attention since OpenAI launched its language model ChatGPT in November 2022. This hands-on workshop will offer an overview of generative AI: what it is, how it works, who has access and answers to other important questions.

Launch It finals today; campus invited to help choose Fan Favorite award

The finals of the annual Launch It student entrepreneur competition will take place at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Nov. 3) in 315 Park Hall Room and virtually via this Zoom link.
