Brightspace: Streamlining quiz evaluation and grading with new updates

D2L Brightspace is rolling out significant enhancements to its assessment tools: a New Quiz Evaluation Experience and an improved Quick Eval function. These updates take place on Friday, June 6 and aim to make grading more efficient, consistent, and user-friendly.

The quiz evaluation interface has been redesigned to unify with existing Assignments and Discussions evaluation tools, creating a more cohesive grading workflow. 

Campus Recreation hosting children's T-ball program

The campus community is invited to join the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Writing Center, and Campus Technology Services for SUNY Oswego’s AI symposium, “Building Oswego’s Digital Campus: AI in Action,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 27 in Penfield Library.  

The event is free and includes complimentary breakfast and lunch.

The relaxed celebration, including refreshments, will take place at the Rice Creek pavilion, or indoors if the weather is inclement.

Faculty member earns additional acclaim for theatrical works

Bella Poynton, assistant professor of theatre, continues to earn national acclaim for her new play, "The Appliance Department," a study on robotic intelligence, which was selected as the winner for both the 12th annual Inkslinger Playwriting Contest and the fifth annual Black Swamp Playwriting Contest.

Lee Hall offers open recreation, swimming to community

SUNY Oswego’s Campus Recreation department invites members of the community to use the Lee Hall gym from 4 to 7 p.m. and Lee Hall pool from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, May 19 to June 27, for a $5 day pass.

Parking is free and no permit is required from May 19 to June 27 for Lee Hall users. Reserved, handicap and overnight restrictions still apply. Suggested lot for community parking would be E-23 off Sheldon Avenue, just north of Rich Hall.

Auxiliary Services announces new initiatives for 2025-26

Auxiliary Services is proud to announce a new series of initiatives designed to support students, improve dining experiences and promote sustainability across campus in the coming months.

For the upcoming academic year, meal plans will start earlier (Aug. 4) and include coverage during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks — at no additional cost. Auxiliary Services will also donate 2,000 meal swipes to SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers), SUNY Oswego’s campus food pantry, and launch a $20,000 Course Material Scholarship to reduce academic expenses.

Local band Melon Heart to perform tonight

Local indie-rock group Melon Heart, which came together as SUNY Oswego students, will perform a free 7 p.m. show Thursday, May 15, in Waterman Theatre.

No tickets are required for this finals-week concert.
