Final reminder: Blackboard decommission takes place today

This is a final reminder that Blackboard will be officially decommissioned today, Dec. 9. After today, Blackboard logins will no longer be available to campus members. 

Before the end of the day, faculty should do the following:

Library to offer resources during break

During the winter savings initiative period from Dec. 19 to Jan. 13, announced via email on Dec. 1, Penfield Library will remain open to support students who remain on campus and as a resource to the campus community. 

Free tickets available for faculty and staff for Laker Hockey Classic

The Oswego State Intercollegiate Athletics Department announced that faculty and staff can claim two free tickets for each day of the Best Western Clarion Oswego State Hockey Classic at the end of December.

The men's hockey tournament begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, when the defending NCAA champions Adrian Bulldogs (ranked #3 in the nation) takes on Williams. The 10th-ranked Lakers will play St. Anselm at 7 p.m. that evening.

Holiday observances ahead

As SUNY Oswego closes the semester and begins to enter the holiday season, there are many things to be thankful for and holidays to enjoy. While understanding that not all members of our community observe these holidays, acknowledging them is a form of education. This piece highlights three cultural holidays: 

  • Hanukkah (Chanukah): Dec. 18 to 26 
  • Christmas: Dec. 25 
  • Kwanzaa: Dec. 26 to Jan. 1

Student Emergency Fund helping students during times of crisis

SUNY Oswego has always supported students during times of crisis or emergency. In 2020, generous alumni donors established a Student Emergency Fund that has supported over 800 students during times of crisis and critical need. These funds have supported students in purchasing basic necessities such as groceries, medical bills and travel expenses due to a family emergency.

AAC&U names SUNY Oswego a new Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Center

The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) recently announced SUNY Oswego as one of 16 new Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Campus Centers across the country.

Campus Community Breakfast set for Dec. 7

Officer in Charge Dr. Mary C. Toale invites SUNY Oswego employees to the annual Campus Community Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall in Marano Campus Center.

No RSVP is required for this end-of-semester gathering of faculty and staff.

Campus Recreation announces winter break hours

December 1, 2022

Campus Recreation will be open various hours over winter break. All facilities will operate with normal hours through Thursday, Dec. 8. Lee Hall will close on Friday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. and Cooper/Glimmerglass Fitness Centers will close at 4:30 p.m.
