Call for nominations to serve on SUNY Awards and Promotions Selection Committee

The process by which SUNY Oswego recommends nominees for SUNY Awards and the promotion to Distinguished Professorships involves the actions of a selection committee.

The selection committee is responsible for soliciting campus nominations, reviewing nomination files, evaluating all nominees, and ranking nominations as a recommendation for action by the President.

If elected, Faculty Assembly policy calls for the members of the committee to consider nominations for the following categories:

Stephen McAfee named executive director of Auxiliary Services

I am very pleased to announce that Stephen McAfee has been appointed SUNY Oswego’s Executive Director of Auxiliary Services. Serving as the Interim General Manager since July 2020, he assumed this official role on August 25, 2021.

Team Teal: SEFA supports awareness, prevention of ovarian cancer

With September as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of late employee Mary Gosek, the SUNY Oswego SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) campaign will continue the Totally Teal campaign for fundraising and awareness. 

A gathering and walk of remembrance will take place at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 28. For this popular annual event, participants are asked to gather in front of Culkin Hall for a photo before a walk around campus, wearing teal and a mask.

Office 365 update for computer labs and classroom podium computers

Campus Technology Services (CTS) provided a start of the fall semester update which stated Office 365 would be installed on computer lab and classroom podium computers effective Monday, Aug. 30. Unfortunately, a technical issue prevented the installation from moving forward. That issue has now been resolved and CTS will update the labs over this coming weekend, Sept. 4 and 5.  

Deadlines posted to file for May 2022 graduation

September 1, 2021

Undergraduate students who will be graduating as of May 2022 and who have not yet filed online to graduate should do so assoon as possible. Undergraduates who will complete requirements in the spring 2022 semester should file no later than Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, for their name to be listed in the commencement program. 

Note that if students have summer courses that are needed for graduation, they should apply as August graduates (also currently open) and are automatically included in the May ceremony. 

RISE Office offers grants to support student presentations

The RISE (Research and Individualized Student Experiences) Office, supported by the Provost's Office, provides funding support for student presentations at conferences, exhibits or performances.

Dependent Care Advantage Account changes for 2021

An update to the 2021 Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAA) will include two changes allowed by the 2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021: 

Counseling Services Center’s weekly Tea Talk returns Sept. 1

Tea Talk, a weekly outreach program run through the Counseling Service Center, returns every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Penfield Library.

Run by the center's Counseling Outreach Peer Educators team members, this program provides a safe environment where anyone can come talk or even just listen.

Organizers will offer activities every week along with the program. No reservations are need, and anyone is welcome to come check it out.
