Show to celebrate 'art of being free'

March 4, 2020

The HeForShe student organization will present an art gallery and fashion show to celebrate acceptance and "the art of being free," organizers said.

Co-sponsored by It's On Oz, the show titled "Museum of Sex" will run from from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 6, in the Hewitt ballroom. The event will highlight gender, sexuality, individuality and liberation.

Oswego's HeforShe is an organization that works to fight towards gender equity and for the rights of all minority groups.

Discover Wellness to explore yoga and meditation

What are yoga and meditation and why do they matter? That will be the topic of the next Discover Wellness program, running 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on March 3 in Wilber Lab B4.

Retirement celebration for Beth Flanigan set for March 9

The campus community is invited to join the Financial Aid Office in celebrating 30 years of Beth Flanigan's service to SUNY Oswego.

On the afternoon of Monday, March 9, all are welcome to stop by the Financial Aid Office, 206 Culkin Hall, between noon and 4 p.m. for cake and refreshments as the college wishes Beth a fond farewell.

Lakers men’s and women’s playoff hockey games moved to Tuesday

The Oswego State Athletics Department has officially announced that both the men's and women’s ice hockey playoff games, originally scheduled for Saturday, have been moved to Tuesday, March 3.

Penfield Library hosting Research Party on March 3

Students are invited to attend a Research Party at Penfield Library from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in 215 Penfield.

All students are welcome to come for pizza and snacks and to get help with their research. Librarians and peer Writing Center tutors will be on hand to help with finding scholarly sources, formatting citations, writing and more. No appointment is necessary.

Cooper Fitness Center will host its annual Group Exercise Marathon on Saturday, March 7.

Attendees are invited to come and go as they please between noon and 5 p.m. Free food and prizes will be available for the duration of the event.

Discover Wellness to offer session on nutrition

Nutrition labels can be confusing, but the latest presentation in the Discover Wellness series seeks to answer the question: How do we know what to eat?

This session, from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in 112 Wilber Hall, will address how to read and apply the information on nutrition labels to everyday life. This free event is open to employees of SUNY Oswego.
