Presenters sought for annual Sportsmanship Day Symposium

The 12th annual Sportsmanship Day Symposium -- 2:20 to 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, in 105 Lanigan Hall -- seeks a variety of speakers from across disciplines to present on this topic.

Sponsored by the sociology department and the sports studies program, this event runs in conjunction with the 30th annual National Sportsmanship Day established to promote fair play, kindness and positive expressions in the world of athletics.

Penfield Library announces 2020 grant opportunity

Penfield Library is pleased to announce that applications are open for 2020 College Impact Collections Grants. Applications are due on March 31.

New this year is that Penfield can now accept applications for ebooks.

About the grant:

Grants of up to $500 each will be awarded to faculty and professional staff for selection of materials supporting professional development, scholarly activity, program/course curriculum needs or student success.

Students encouraged to 'drop-in' with President Stanley

President Deborah F. Stanley will host the spring 2020 semester's first student drop-in session today (Tuesday, Feb. 4) from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court.

All students are encouraged to drop in, say hello to President Stanley, ask a question or discuss a topic important to you.

Laker For a Day student hosts needed

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers incoming admitted students an opportunity to attend classes for a day with a current student in their major. For this program, the office is looking for current students interested in hosting and mentoring future Lakers, so that they can experience what its like to be a SUNY Oswego student for a day.

This program takes place on select weekdays from February through April. This is not an overnight program.

Writing Center to offer classroom visits

Writing Center staff will be available to visit classrooms and share information about writing tutoring services.

Grant writing class offered Feb. 24, 25

The Division of Extended Learning and Grant Writing USA will offer a two-day grant writing class at our Syracuse campus from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 25.

Participants will learn about finding grants and writing winning grant proposals. This grant writing class is for grant seekers across all disciplines.

Cost for the two-day training is $455. For more information, contact the Division of Extended Learning at 315-312-2270.

Rice Creek Small Grant applications deadline extended

Because of the impact of COVID-19 in the campus community, Rice Creek Associates are extending the deadline to submit proposals for the Rice Creek Associates Small Grant program to April 20, 2020.
