Retirement celebration for Fred Scoles set for Friday, Oct. 25

The chemistry department’s instrumentation specialist, Fred Scoles, will be retiring after 36 years of service to SUNY Oswego.

The campus is invited to a celebration on Friday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. in 225 Shineman Center to wish him well in his retirement.

Emergency communication systems test set Thursday, Oct. 10

SUNY Oswego will conduct a simultaneous, campus-wide test of the college's emergency communication systems today (Oct. 10, 2019).

At approximately 11:15 a.m. this morning, the college will send messages via NY-Alert, the college website, campus phones including classroom and conference phones, teaching station computers, emergency broadcast system outdoor speakers and digital signage. 

First-Year Signature Course to host screening, discussion

Write Ways session explores 'Some of Those Other Punctuation Marks'

The next session in the weekly Write Ways series will explore "Some of Those Other Punctuation Marks" at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, in Penfield Library's Classroom 215. 

Those attending the workshop presented by Steven Smith will learn more about how to use the semicolon, colon, dash and parentheses. Workshops are free and open to all students, staff, and faculty.

Alumnus to speak at economics workshop on campus

The first presentation of the Economics Departmental Workshop will feature SUNY Oswego alumnus and former faculty member Kpoti Kitissou at 4:30 p.m. today (Oct. 11) in the CELT Conference Room (Room 123, Penfield Library). Kitissou is now assistant professor of economics at SUNY Oneonta. 

He will share his paper, “Condom, Promiscuity, and HIV Infection: Evidence from Southern Africa,” which was recently presented at the New York State Economic Association Conference. Admission is free.

Alumna to share her journey in IT at College Loops event

Alumna Katie Morelli will speak on campus Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (Room 132) at a College Loops kickoff event.

A user experience designer for AXA US in Syracuse, Morelli earned a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design in 2014 and a master’s in human computer interaction in 2016, both from SUNY Oswego. She will speak about her experiences and share her journey as a woman in the IT (information technology) industry.
