PRSSA to host pitch workshop on Monday

Federal Work Study Research Assistantship application deadline extended to Sept. 19

The Federal Work Study Research Assistantship (FWS-RA) application deadline has been extended to Sept. 19.

This program allows faculty from across the college to request an eligible undergrad or grad student as a research assistant to advance their scholarship and creative activities. Up to 12 assistantships ($2,000 each) will be funded. The Student Office of Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) and the Financial Aid Office coordinate this program.

ASAP to host program on financial aid and student accounts tonight

The Adult Student Assistance Program (ASAP) will sponsor an online session tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 7) at 7 p.m. for those with questions about financial aid or student accounts.

Online registration is still available via this link.

ASAP is designed to help adult learners connect with SUNY Oswego and other students.

LakerPrint available in Penfield Library

Do you need to print your course schedule, an assignment or some inspirational quotes to hang on your wall? Whatever you need to print, Penfield Library and LakerPrint have you covered.

Both black and white and color printing are available 24/7 in the Penfield Library computer lab, and you can submit your print job from anywhere.

Rice Creek director to discuss ‘Herbs, Spices and the Origins of Western Medicine’

Kamal Mohamed, director of Rice Creek Field Station and a professor of biological sciences at SUNY Oswego, will discuss “Herbs, Spices and the Origins of Western Medicine” in the next Rice Creek Associates (RCA) Reflections talk at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.

The talk at the field station is free and open to the public.

President Nwosu to host student drop-in session today

SUNY Oswego President Peter Nwosu will host the fall 2023 semester's first student drop-in session today -- Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023 -- from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court.

All students are encouraged to drop in, say hello to President Nwosu, ask a question or discuss a topic important to you.

 

Mental Health and Wellness Fair scheduled Wednesday

The campus community is welcome to check out the annual Mental Health and Wellness Fair, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, between Marano Campus Center and Penfield Library. (The rain location is the Swetman Gym in Marano Campus Center.)

Open to all employees and students, with no admission fee, the fair brings together local services, vendors, student organizations and offices to actively promote health and wellness within SUNY Oswego.

Limited-time NYS tax benefit available for SUNY Oswego supporters

The State of New York has created a program that has the potential to provide a significant break on your New York State personal income tax for supporting higher education. The program is called the NYS Charitable Tax Credit Program, and it provides a non-refundable NYS income tax credit of up to 85 percent of your qualified contribution.

How it works:

• You make a charitable gift between $10,000 and $100,000 to the SUNY Impact Foundation that can be directed back to the program of your choice at SUNY Oswego.
