Admissions Office seeks student tour guides

January 26, 2023

The Office of Admissions is hiring students for the paid tour guide position for the spring 2023 semester.

Due to a heavy load of accepted students for fall 2023, Admissions expects to offer at least eight tours a week for prospective students and families. The pay rate will be $14.20 per hour.

Wonderful news! We have another opportunity to recognize some of our finest at SUNY Oswego via the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service!

Nominations are open today (Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023) for the 2022-2023 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service. Nominations close on Monday, February 20, 2023. Any member of the campus community may nominate an eligible state employee presently serving in a full-time classified service capacity.

Imagine programs to build connections, professional development

Faculty/Staff/Student Tailgate set Feb. 3

To kick off the spring 2023 semester, the Offices of Student Orientation and Family Engagement, and of Student Engagement and Leadership will host a Faculty/Staff Tailgate from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court.

The event will feature free food, door prizes and an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students alike before the men's hockey team takes on Geneseo in the adjacent Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.

Spring 2023 library workshops announced

Penfield Library is pleased to announce a series of workshops for the spring 2023 semester. Librarians are offering library/information literacy workshops to any and all students in person, online, and asynchronously. Topics will include:

• Intro to library research
• Different types of sources and when to use them
• Basic searching: topics and keywords
• Researching companies
• Art research
• Citations
• Evaluating sources

Penfield Library is seeking submissions from faculty and staff for Display To Archives 2022-23. Display to Archives is Penfield Library's ongoing effort to collect, recognize, exhibit, and promote access to the creative and scholarly work of SUNY Oswego's faculty and staff.

County offers COVID vaccination/booster clinic on Feb. 8

The Oswego County Health Department will continue to host COVID-19 vaccine/booster clinics for the Oswego community, including SUNY Oswego students, faculty, and staff.  Appointments are appreciated but walk-ins are welcome. 

The next clinic will take place on Wednesday, February 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Oswego County Health Department, 70 Bunner St. in Oswego.

I am happy to share that SUNY Oswego has signed on to be an academic partner of the 9th World Conference on Women’s Studies 2023 (WCWS 2023) to be held May 11-12, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. WCWS 2023 aims to bring together current research on women and provide participants with the opportunity to share thoughts, exchange ideas, listen to renowned keynote speakers, extend your network and jointly explore current and future research directions.

Zoom recordings from spring and summer 2021 going away Feb. 8

On Feb. 8 at 8 a.m., Campus Technology Services (CTS) will remove Zoom recordings from the spring 2021 and summer 2021 semesters.
