Outstanding alumni to discuss post-college transition

The Future Alumni Network (FANs) will sponsor a talk on transitioning to post-college life from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, in 114 Marano Campus Center. Students are encouraged to come with questions to ask the outstanding alumni about their experiences.

March Mile Employee Appreciation Walk set

The March Mile Employee Appreciation Walk (professors, faculty, staff -- anyone who works for the SUNY Oswego community), sponsored by the Health Promotion and Wellness Club, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 25.

This club provides the walk to show our appreciation for all the staff members who work hard every day for the students who attend SUNY Oswego.

Two professors recognized as 2022 SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors

SUNY Oswego faculty members Sandy Bargainnier and Justin Mastrangelo recently earned recognition as SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors for 2022, an award that acknowledges the hard work they invest into building fulfilling curriculums for online courses.

Opt-in process for multi-factor authentication under way

March 14, 2022

On March 9, Campus Technology Services (CTS) announced the campus will add a second layer of authentication to certain campus services including Blackboard, Zoom, Office 365, Adobe, Library databases, Administrative Banner and Spectrum U. This second layer of authentication is called multi-factor authentication (MFA) and requires the use of your normal password along with a code sent to an app or phone.

Penfield Library to host Research Party for faculty and staff

March 9, 2022

Penfield Library is hosting a Research Party for faculty and staff over spring break in Room 215 of the library from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15.

Organizers said these have been very popular with students, so they decided to extend the opportunity to campus faculty and staff members.

This is an informal, unstructured opportunity to ask questions, get help, and otherwise get some work done. All faculty and staff are encouraged to come talk with us and get answers to their library questions (research and otherwise).

Campus grant supports student's research of computing concepts

SUNY Oswego computer science major and logic minor Dominic Altamura recently received a Student Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant for research that he hopes will help demystify computer science concepts and applications for users of the general public.

Network maintenance scheduled for SUNY Oswego’s Syracuse campus March 21 to 29

Spectrum will be partnering with Campus Technology Services (CTS) to perform maintenance on the SUNY Oswego Syracuse campus network on the following dates/times:

  • March 21, 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. 
  • March 22, 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. 
  • March 24, 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. 
  • March 28, 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. 
  • March 29, 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. 

During these times phone, wired, and wireless network services will be unavailable.

Deadline extended for Hubert B. Smith Diversity Scholarship nominations

The Hubert B. Smith Diversity Scholarship will be awarded to four students for the next academic year, 2022-23, with a nomination deadline recently extended to April 11.

Each recipient will receive between $1,000 and $1250.

This award honors Hubert B. Smith, retired assistant provost and director of the Office of Learning Support (now the Office of Learning Services), for his many years of service in the promotion of human diversity and academic excellence at SUNY Oswego.
