The Criminal Justice Department will present "The Women in Criminal Justice," a virtual speaker panel at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, sponsored by the David F. Cutler ‘74 Public Justice Excellence Fund.

SEFA, SHOP collaborate on outerwear drive for those in need

The college’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign is teaming up with Students Helping Oz Peers (SHOP) pantry to collect new or clean, gently used coats, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens to stock their shelves for the spring semester.

Pre-retirement session series offered

The college partners with the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations Work Life Services to again offer virtual Winter/Spring 2022 New York State Pre-Retirement Sessions from February to June 2022. Using the WebEx platform, these live sessions are conducted bi-weekly over two days using the following agenda:

Catering department hiring for spring semester

Fall 2021 Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Grants awarded; spring deadline Feb. 21

The Fall 2021 round of the Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant application/review process resulted in nine proposals selected for funding by members of the Scholarly and Creative Activity Committee, and ultimately approved for funding by Provost Scott Furlong. The funded proposals added up to $23,291.33 total.

Shineman Endowed Fund deadline Feb. 15; previous recipients announced

The college’s Richard S. and Barbara P. Shineman Endowed Fund Stewardship Committee is accepting proposals for grants to support educational and cultural opportunities conceived by campus members, with letters of intent due by Feb. 15.

Award amounts depend upon the scope of the project. Small Grants will be awarded for projects requesting $4,999 or less, and projects requesting $5,000 or more will be considered Large Grants.

Those invited to submit full applications will have a March 15 deadline.

Steven M. Smith, director of SUNY Oswego’s Writing Center and a SUNY Oswego alumnus, recently published his debut poetry book titled “Strongman Contest.”

County to host pediatric Pfizer COVID vaccination clinic on Friday

January 10, 2022

The Oswego County Health Department will host a public pediatric Pfizer COVID vaccination clinic for children ages 5 to 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at 70 Bunner St. in Oswego.

Organizers noted that this clinic is for children in that range only, and that a parent or guardian must be present. This is the first in a two-dose series of Pfizer vaccinations for participants.

Building on a track record of success, SUNY Oswego’s master of business administration (MBA) programs recently secured more distinguished national recognition through the Princeton Review and from the MBA specialty site: Poets and Quants.
