Weekly Lunchtime Christian Meditation sessions begin today

Starting today (Feb. 13) from noon to 1 p.m. in the Newman Center, and every Wednesday throughout the spring semester, Lunchtime Christian Meditation in the Catholic, Eucharistic tradition is open to all students, faculty and staff.

Lunchtime Christian Meditation is sponsored by the Newman Center, John F. Lalande and a number of SUNY Oswego faculty, staff and students.

Signups open for February KidsTech STEM courses

In addition to traditional Oswego KidsTech: STEM 4 Kids (grades K-3) or Young Inventors (grades 4-6) four-week classes in April, this semester the campus will host KidsTech STEM Warm-up Activities in February. These sessions invite children to enjoy an exciting STEM activity during their winter breaks and for new children to try out one of the iSTEM (integrative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) lessons led by the Oswego Technology Student Association and pre-service technology education teachers at SUNY Oswego

Faculty invited to "drop-in" today with President Stanley

President Deborah F. Stanley will host a drop-in with faculty today (Thursday, Feb. 7) from 9:30 to 11 a.m., in the Chu Atrium, located in the Marano Campus Center.

President Stanley hosts drop-in hours for SUNY Oswego faculty periodically throughout the academic year. Members of the faculty are invited to stop by and meet with her during these drop-ins.

New Mindful Yoga course begins today

Mindful Yoga with Steven, Fridays at 4 p.m. in 302 Lee Hall, is a new offering to wind down the week.

The weekly sessions led by Steven York of the theatre department offer a three-part restorative practice focused on body/mind/breath awareness, mindful movement and appreciation of the present moment. Each of the three sections last approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Latecomers are welcome to join at anytime during the first 30 to 40 minutes.

Deadline approaching for collections grants from Penfield Library

February 5, 2019

Penfield Library has announced it is now taking applications for 2019 College Impact Collections Grants. Please note that the application period has been shortened this year. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15. 

All full- and part-time faculty and professional staff are eligible for grants, regardless of whether or not you have received a library grant previously.

Spreading the word on Love A Donor Week

Each February during Valentine's week, the Alumni and Development Division coordinates a program to educate students on the impact of donor gifts to the college.

Throughout the week, representatives visit various classes and student staff meetings to do so. In the process, the office also collects student-written thank you cards to send to some of the college's most loyal donors.

Lecture on plastics epidemics kicks off semester's Science Today series

The campus community is invited to the first Science Today lecture of the spring semester, presented this afternoon by Matthew Baker of the college's chemistry faculty. In "The Plastics Epidemic and Efforts Towards a Remedy," starting at 4 p.m. in 176 Shineman Center, Baker will introduce the plastics waste revolution and provide some insight into research towards improving the situation.

President Deborah F. Stanley continues her drop-in meetings with students today (Tuesday, Feb. 5), as the first session of the spring semester runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court.

All students are encouraged to drop in, say hello to President Stanley, ask a question or discuss a topic important to you.

Registration deadlines today for multiple campus recreation events

Campus Recreation registration deadline for Indoor Soccer League, Volleyball League and Team Handball Tournament are today. You can sign up with a team or sign up as a free agent. To sign up, visit IMLeagues.com. If you have any questions, email intramuralsports@oswego.edu

Campus Recreation also has upcoming events, such as Wii Wednesdays, where participants are welcome to come with friends to Lee Hall to play Wii games, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Petitions available for Student Association president, vice-president

Petitions for the Student Association presidential and vice-presidential positions are out now. The Student Association is an on-campus, student-run government that can make a huge difference for the SUNY Oswego community, but above all the Student Association is a representative force for the students of SUNY Oswego.

If you want to make a change for the better on campus, then you should run for either of these positions. Along with making a change on campus, the officers get to be the face of a major student leader, as well.
