SA to host Oz Olympics this spring

SEFA, UP join forces for No-Shave November fundraising

SUNY Oswego's State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign is partnering with University Police to host No-Shave November fundraising to support men's health initiatives.

No-Shave November began as a way to raise funds and awareness for such ailments as testicular and prostate cancers. This national fundraiser has grown such that participants now ask friends and family to donate to sponsor their efforts. The college’s University Police department typically raises several hundred dollars and is a top institutional participant.

Acts sought for SEFA’s inaugural Talent Showcase fundraiser

SUNY Oswego campus community members are invited to perform in the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign’s inaugural Talent Showcase, 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Curtis Manor in Oswego.

1861 Giving Challenges raise more than $300K

A green front swept across the country for 1,861 minutes on Sept. 30 through Oct. 1 and resulted in $303,925.41 raised for SUNY Oswego.

A total of 1,543 donors made gifts during the 1861 Giving Challenge, held in conjunction with Founder’s Weekend, and as they did, they turned their home state from white to green on a map tracking progress.

Laker family members nearly doubled the original goal of 861 donors, helping to secure the $50,000 challenge gift of Al Roker ’76.

Senior Class Planning Committee hosts Oz Movie Fright Night this Friday

The Senior Class Planning Committee will host a Halloween Movie Night, premiering the new Michael Myers movie, "Halloween Kills," at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct, 29, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium (room 132).

Refreshments will be served. Register at this event link to participate and be included in the food count.

Yesterday, all members of the campus were informed that the college will conduct a test of the college's emergency communication systems on Thursday, Oct.

Test of NY-Alert to occur today at 11:20 a.m.

SUNY Oswego will conduct a test of the college's emergency communication systems today (Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021).

At approximately 11:20 a.m. this morning, the college will send messages via NY-Alert, the college website, campus phones including classroom and conference phones, teaching station computers, emergency broadcast system outdoor speakers and digital signage.

Student Association seeks acts for 'Oz Got Talent'

The Student Association will stage its inaugural "Oz Got Talent" show from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium -- but first they seek a variety of talent to make the show come alive.

Organizers said they are seeking musicians, singers, dancers, rappers, comedians, magicians, artists, STEM majors and more, with an online submission due by Nov. 3. That form asks applicants to submit a video or photo related to their talent. Students, faculty and staff are all invited to take part.

Inaugural Publishing Festival slated Friday

The college’s first-ever Publishing Festival -- 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium -- will help students learn more about the publishing industry from those working in the field, including two alumni. Refreshments and prizes will be included.
