Alumna to present free Lifestyle Organization online workshop

The Oswego Alumni Association is sponsoring a virtual workshop to help attendees learn about personal organization at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

"No Time or Space to Waste," hosted by 1998 alumna Allyson Mooney, will share valuable tips on how to organize and make the most out of your time and space. With the busy fall season, the campus community is invited to take advantage of this free opportunity as Mooney shares how to "energize, prioritize and organize" your time and living space for peak productivity.

Campus campaign connects with National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of late employee Mary Gosek, the SUNY Oswego SEFA (State Employees Federated Appeal) campaign is continuing the Totally Teal Tuesday campaign for fundraising and awareness. 

Due to COVID-19, there will not be a group walk or photo this year. However, everyone is encouraged to wear their teal apparel every Tuesday, take a walk on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and post a photo on social media with the hashtag #tealtuesdays.

Changes in undergraduate student employee appointment process

Due to budget restrictions and limitations, undergraduate student hiring is only allowed on a critical basis and requires the respective Vice President approval. The information outlined here does not provide permission to hire, but rather contains information about the new electronic process for submitting approved undergraduate student appointment forms.

Located on the first floor of Penfield Library, the Office of Learning Services (OLS) is open to help meet the tutorial needs of SUNY Oswego students. The peer tutors in the three Centers (STEM Center, Writing Center and Tutoring Center) provide in-person and online assistance with course content and writing.

Tutoring is free to all SUNY Oswego students. Scheduled hours of operation (Eastern Standard Time) are as follows:

'Discover Wellness' series offered for employees

The college's Health Promotion and Wellness Club will offer a weekly virtual series, "Discover Wellness: Find a Healthier You" to employees, starting next week.

After an informational session from 1 to 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, the series will offer these sessions every Monday at that time:

Weekly Lunchtime Christian Meditation returns at Newman Center

Weekly Lunchtime Christian Meditation sessions return to the on-campus Newman Center every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.

The sessions are free and open to all faculty, staff and students. Appropriate health and safety protocols should be observed.

Lunchtime Christian Meditation takes place in the Catholic Eucharistic tradition.

The series is sponsored by the Newman Center, Dr. John Lalande and SUNY Oswego Catholic faculty, staff and students.

Reminder: Labor Day 2020 is an instructional day

Remember that Monday, Sept. 7, 2020 (Labor Day) is an instructional day. This is due to the modified college calendar for the fall semester in response to COVID-19. 

As it is an instructional day and classes will be in session, offices are expected to have minimum staffing levels based on operational need. Any professionals that are scheduled to work on Labor Day will have the ability to bank the holiday for future use.
