Regular office hours (remote or in-person) to return Monday

Effective Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, office hours -- whether virtual or on campus -- for classified service office employees will return to regular hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Steve McAfee named interim general manager for Auxiliary Services

Steve McAfee has been named interim general manager for Auxiliary Services. A national search for a new general manager will begin in the fall semester. After 35+ years of service to SUNY Oswego, Auxiliary Services General Manager Michael Flaherty retired this summer.

McAfee has served as Auxiliary Services director of retail dining and catering since 2009. He has a bachelor of science in hotel and restaurant management from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA from SUNY Oswego.

Parking permits now available online

Parking permits for the upcoming 2020-2021 academic year are now available online via the Parking Portal website.

Upon ordering, all permits will be mailed to the address indicated. Please by sure to verify the mailing address when ordering, in terms of if you want it mailed locally or on campus. Also be sure the address is correct and allow seven to 10 business days for mailing.

Deadline Friday for scholarship supporting non-trad SUNY Oswego Syracuse campus students

The SUNY Oswego Syracuse campus invites applicants for a scholarship opportunity offered by Visions Federal Credit Union. The scholarship offers $500 for the fall 2020 semester to Syracuse campus non-traditional students. The Syracuse campus student applicant must be a matriculated, non-traditional undergraduate junior or senior student with financial need.

Nutritional counseling added for employees via EAP

The opportunity for free nutritional counseling is the newest benefit added by the college's Employee Assistance Program.

Kelly's Choice, a virtual nutritional counseling company and Empire Plan participating provider, will offer services for free during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company's goal is for clients to put their health first and chronic health conditions in the past.

Nutritional counseling services from Kelly's Choice include planning a weight loss regimen, reversing and preventing Type II diabetes, preventing chronic illness and supporting one's immune system.

SUNY to host virtual 'Celebrating Diversity Through Disability' discussion

The State University of New York will host a virtual conversation to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. "Celebrating Diversity Through Disability: In Search of Common Values" will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, with online online registration now open.

Undergraduate research assistantships available

Faculty and students are encouraged to consider applying to host or become a student worker via the Undergraduate Research Assistantships (URA) program.

The Research and Individualized Student Experiences (RISE) Office in partnership with the Financial Aid Office supports 12 URA positions through the federally funded Work-Study program. This program allows faculty from across the university to request an eligible student as a research assistant to advance their research/scholarship.

Q: What does quarantine mean?

A: If you are returning from travel to a designated state, and if such travel was for longer than the limited duration outlined within the executive order, you are required to quarantine when you enter New York for 14 days from the last day you were in a designated state(s), unless you are an essential worker or fall under another exception as determined by the Commissioner. Per Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order, all travelers entering New York from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents, or higher than a 10 percent test positivity rate, over a seven-day rolling average, will be required to quarantine for a period of 14 days consistent with Department of Health regulations for quarantine.
